To promote the culture of cherishing food and increase public participation in food donation activities, Food Angel launched the first smart food donation programme - “Food Smart Buddy” in Hong Kong, which aims to educate and cultivate the community to donate surplus food in an interactive and innovative way.  The food collected will support Food Angel to prepare meals and food packs for those in need.
Under this programme, food donation machine and food donation box will be set up at various locations, such as shopping malls, commercial buildings, housing estates and schools, paired with a mobile app to facilitate food donation from the general public. 

How to Participate?

The smart machine can be activated with a QR code (for members), or Octopus Card (for both members and non-members) to donate food, and the app will indicate the weight of donated food instantly, and visually convert the weight to the equivalent quantity of meals or food packs that we can produce with the donation. The smart machine can capture the accumulated weight of food donated by members and food donation record made within a year. It also has monetary donation and photo-taking functions.
